Dentist in Carol Stream Shares: What is Home to You?
Early this morning, as we all rushed in from the rainy weather and I turned on the lights in our waiting room, I was reminded once again how cozy our space is. Countless patients have remarked to me how comfortable they are here, how “homey” it feels, and more than a few patients (who shall remain nameless) may have even fallen asleep on the couch! Since I’m normally at the front desk, I have the unique opportunity to see the looks of surprise on waiting parents’ and spouse’s faces when their family comes through the door, appointments completed: “Done already??” It always makes me glad to know that people can be so comfortable during their visits with us, they lose track of time! It’s very important to us at KL Family Dental, Dentist in Carol Stream, that our patients feel at home during their visits. But it made me think: what does it mean to be and feel “at home”?
So I asked a few of the staff what their answer to this question would be. I didn’t warn them I’d be asking ahead of time — I wanted their initial, instinctive ideas. It was interesting to me that despite all of our very different backgrounds, there were several common threads. Here are their thoughts:
“Home is somewhere I’m comfortable and relaxed.” Brandi
“Home is where my family is all together.” Dr. Karyn Swade
“Home is the house where I grew up – where my earliest memories are.” Kristen
“Home is family, food, and security.” Dr. Lora Riccolo
“Home is comfy, safe, and a place where I can be myself.” Lee
